SUCCESS STORIES

Jeff Green

Special Projects

Ever mindful of the unique mission of his team, Jeff Green focuses on the daily challenge of finding new solutions to problems faced on specialty projects spanning the continent.

His group – Special Projects – handles a variety of jobs typically involving larger-diameter, steel piping (examples of which include installation of piping on a water-coolant system across a nuclear-power site, and running pipe long and deep through bedrock under the Potomac River).

With work across the country, Jeff manages each project as it demands.
“There is no day alike,” he explains. “Whether it’s a difference in climate or topographies, city or state regulations or both, or digging a ditch 55-feet deep, there is always a new challenge.”

What doesn’t change, however, is NPL’s emphasis on team and constant opportunity.

“I’m always looking for the team player who’s eager to learn, but is patient enough to allow his or her skills to fully develop,” he notes. “If the individual has patience and continues to learn, his or her chance will come, no question about it.”

Jeff advises employees: “Your destiny relies on your desire.”

And, echoing the best advice he’s ever received, he adds: “Keep your head up no matter what . . . get through the tough times and learn from your mistakes.”

Regarding the role of Special Projects, “it’s nice to work where my crews get the chance to try new things and really see what’s possible in underground construction,” Jeff says. “We get special needs explained to us by our customers; we accept those jobs; we go out there and just get it done.”

That leads to what pleases him most: Success for his team, as a group and for each member. “I love seeing results, and I really love seeing my people grow in their knowledge and experience,” he beams. “Like I said before, the opportunities are there for those who choose to always learn and have patience about moving forward.”
